You only buy a new kitchen 2-3 times in your life. Very annoying if you afterwards come to the conclusion that you would have wanted it differently. A kitchen design requires time and attention and requires time and attention from you as a buyer and from your kitchen advisor.
Design a kitchen
If you are considering the purchase of a new kitchen, there are a number of points beyond your required budget that you need to focus on! You buy a kitchen for a long period and kitchen design misses are often irreparable, or can only be solved at high costs.
A "good" price for your new kitchen is a relative concept. Often a better price is also accompanied by the return of parts that make the daily use of your kitchen more pleasant. An honest seller who sincerely searches for the best solution deserves more than just your attention. You can at least be aware of a number of points yourself.
Which defects / imperfections certainly lead to annoyances !?
1) Boiling, rinsing and cooling the triangle
The most important parts in the use of a kitchen must be situated at a walkable distance from each other. A maximum of 2.5 meters between the various components can be walked on. The legs of the triangle added up must not exceed 7.5 meters. If a steam oven has been devised in your new design in kitchen interior, it takes an equally important place in the triangle.
2) Pentagon in the kitchen design
The activities that you undertake most daily. Rinsing/use of tap, cooking, cooling, preparation and use of equipment. In the kitchen world the golden triangle (cooking, rinsing and cooking) is a winged concept. The three sides of the triangle must collectively not be more than 6 meters in order to have a pleasant workplace. With the arrival of a steam oven and multifunctional ovens, the interpretation of these appliances is just as important as the location of your cooktop. Not to mention cooking is 75% preparation! The importance of a pleasant workspace is obvious!
3) Handy kitchen drawers and tall cupboards
Sufficient drawers are planned in good kitchen design. The question is of course what is sufficient. With a pleasant layout, an average household will need at least 1.80 m of drawers. On our website we take this minimum of drawers into account in our prices. To reduce the price, a design is often made with fewer drawers, take this into account. High cabinets are also useful in an arrangement. Not only practical to place built-in appliances at an ergonomic height, but also to create a lot of storage space. A high cupboard is also much cheaper than a base cupboard with worktop and top cupboard.
4) Too few chests of drawers planned and therefore too many ordinary shelves
It is not uncommon for you to be presented with a kitchen design in which the number of drawers is limited. Of course that saves considerably in costs and it seems that you stay within your kitchen budget. However, cheap is expensive in this case. A chest of drawers means a lot of ergonomic space and savings on this are big mistakes.
5) Many wall units that are also placed too high
A wall cabinet by definition means an expensive solution for little extra efficient space. All use and storage space that is located between our crotch and the top of our shoulders belongs to the most efficient space. Always plan high cabinets wherever possible, also as storage space! Too high wall cabinets are completely wasted money, you will not be added and in practice, you will want as many things as possible that you do not use every day.
6) Carousel cabinets are expensive solutions
Are you dealing with one or more corners in your new kitchen? As standard, a Carousel cabinet is planned by many companies. If you want to fill up your kitchen budget quickly, that's a good solution. There are, however, solutions that result in considerable savings and also add value to the appearance of your new kitchen. A good adviser will point this out to you!
7) One designed for you!
Yes of course you will say, and yet a lot is being designed for the kitchen company! I outline the situation. You come to a random company, there are several customers around. The sellers receive clear instructions, only with customers at the table who can decide asap. Within 1.5 hours you have a kitchen design, a quote, and the first discount in your pocket. With this kitchen design you go "shopping", because you would not want to have to tell on a birthday that you did not do that! The question is whether you have received a good kitchen design in the first instance. Was this indeed what you wanted or was the inspiration of the seller motivated only by a quick profit!
8) A kitchen is ergonomic, functional and tasteful
Whether you buy a beautiful design, a rural or a nostalgic kitchen , the kitchen design must ultimately meet these aspects. Designing a kitchen is constantly looking for the boundaries of these elements. For one customer functionality will be more important than aesthetics and for the other this will not apply. Good kitchen advice covers all elements and the consultant will "take you by the hand" along the path of choices. Of course, the costs of each choice also play an important role in the final kitchen price.
9) Sufficient and well-distributed workspace on your countertop
Of course, everything depends on the available space, but a creative mind can often come up with surprising solutions. Rule of thumb, make sure you have space left and right of your sink. There are often people who necessarily have to have a double sink, but then ignore the loss of workspace.
10) Not all equipment or simply the wrong built-in equipment!
The number of errors made with built-in appliances is large. The consumer is often tempted to purchase equipment and an "overkill" of functions is added. The operation does not become easier. For budget reasons, avoiding specific devices is also a common technique. If you had known about the operation and existence of a steam oven, you would certainly have bought it ... Of course, the consumer, who is often too focused on benefits and offers, is responsible for accepting tempting offers!
11) Poor or wrong work lighting in the kitchen
Kitchen lighting is an unjustified closing item in the budget, in fact, often not included in the budget. Nevertheless, good work lighting and attractive mood lighting make an essential difference.
Although the fast kitchen vendor likes to quickly ignore essential parts that make or break your kitchen, you are responsible for the temptations of the so-called big advantage. Choose a reliable party and reward good tips with your assignment !!
12) An incorrect working height is a daily punishment
The working height of your kitchen listens quite closely. In any case, it is more than a simple estimate that quickly leads to the standard height (where the kitchen vendor earns the most). Be well informed at all times. Be realistic, a working height will never be conceivable on 2 people with different lengths. Whoever uses the kitchen the most, is then key!
